Norwegian Becomes First European Carrier to Take Delivery of the 737 MAX
Norwegian was founded in 1993 and it is the sixth largest low-cost carrier in the world, as well as the largest airline in Scandinavia. Today they have around 130 aircrafts and take great pride in being one of the world’s youngest and greenest fleets with an average age of almost 4 years. The company offers domestic flights between Scandinavia and Finland, business destinations to London, as well as vacation holidays in the Mediterranean. In order to generalize, the Norwegian route network includes over 500 routes on 150 destinations in Europe, North Africa and Middle East.
In the history of Boeing’s company, the 737 Max 8 recorded the fastest sales, accumulating over 3700 orders, from 37 clients and it is one of the best selling aircrafts of Next Generation 737’s family. The 373 Max Family has been designed to offer exceptional performance, flexibility and efficiency to their clients, as well as low cost prices. Therefore, on June 29th 2017 in Seattle, Boeing delivered the first two 737 MAX 8s to the Norwegian. Due to this purchase, Norwegian is the first European career to take delivery of the 737 MAX and also the first airline in the world to operate it to and from the United States.
"It’s a major milestone. The Max-8 will pave the road for a totally new concept.” Norwegian founder and CEO Bjorn Kjos said about taking the new 737 Max at delivery ceremony and he is certain that this airplane will play a key role in its continued success.
